And so it begins...

The Sydney Swans hit the track on Monday as preparations begin for everyone's favourite day on the AFL calendar - the Grand Final.

Jarrad McVeigh, Callum Mills and Aliir Aliir were on light duties as the trio race to be fit for the huge clash against Western Bulldogs at the MCG.

As for the rest of the playing group, they were put through their paces under warm conditions and in front of a sizeable crowd who turned out to the open session.

Fans and supporters in their thousands swarmed the Paul Kelly Race to cheer on the players as they made their way out onto the hallowed turf.

Plenty of media was on hand, including Getty Images and AFL Photos of whom took photos throughout the session.

We've compiled the best of them below.

The Swans will train on Wednesday in a closed session before flying to Melbourne ahead of Friday's Grand Final Parade.

Dane Rampe, under that now famous hairdo and mo, looks further afield for an option.

Meeting of the minds - Kieren Jack, John Longmire and Jarrad McVeigh talk tactics.

Even under an injury cloud, Aliir Aliir still manages to crack a smile.

Isaac Heeney was a popular man at today's open training session.

Jarrad McVeigh's leadership and experience will be crucial as the Sydney Swans' vie for a sixth premiership.

Josh Kennedy has had a HUGE finals series...fingers crossed that form continues on Saturday.
