The Sydney Swans will continue contract negotiations with a number of their out of contract players ahead of the first list lodgement later this month.

Dean Towers, Xavier Richards, Abe Davis and Jack Hiscox are yet to agree to new deals for the 2017 season following the trade period.

Head of Football Tom Harley said there were still some decisions to be made in the next week on those players out of contract.

“We will sit down with their respective managers to work out what we do going forward,” Harley said.

“List lodgement is not until the end of October so we have some time to work through that and we will pick up those conversations as soon as we can.”

Harley said it was disappointing to lose Tom Mitchell and Toby Nankervis during the recent trade period but both players had reasons for their departure.

“It was very disappointing to lose Tom Mitchell and Toby Nankerivs as players at the football club but both left for their own reasons so we respect that,” he said.

“The key part was to then make it work for you so I think Kinnear and the team did well.

“We are really happy with the end result, we went into the trade period wanting to improve our draft position and we have certainly done that.”
