Midfielder Jake Lloyd believes 2016 was his best season of footy since being drafted as a rookie to the Swans three years ago.

Lloyd played every match during the season as he solidified his importance in adding important depth to an already star studded midfield.

The 23-year-old said he was pleased with how he responded to the challenges put to him during the pre-season.

“I was fortunate enough to play every game this year so I was pretty happy on that front and for me it was probably my best season of footy so far,” Lloyd said.

“It was certainly my most consistent season and I am pretty happy with how it panned out.

“I have a lot to learn and a lot to build on so I just need to continue on my form from this year and that starts over the pre-season.”

The departure of premiership star Lewis Jetta during the off-season opened further opportunities for Lloyd.

The hard-running utility taking the chance to play more consistently on the wing and across the back line.

“Obviously with Jets leaving at the end of last year I had to put my hand up to stand up in that wing position and I thought I was able to do that,” he said.

“In the later part of the year I played a bit more across half back so I played a couple of different roles and I thought I relished that.”

Lloyd made the most of his rich vein of form during the season signing a new deal to remain with the Club until the end of the 2018 season.

“It was good to sign on again for another couple of years,” he said.

“I owe this Club a lot, they have given me an opportunity and I am grateful for that so I just want to repay that by playing good football.”
