Sydney Swans young gun Jordan Foote is changing things up for season 2017, switching from jumper 45 to No. 6.

Foote made his debut in the number 45 this season, running out for his first game in the red and white in the Round 18 win over Carlton at the SCG.

The number No. 6 locker has recently been vacated by Tom Mitchell.

There are three players to have played more than 100 games in the No. 6, including Harry Clarke, Andrew Dunkley and Craig Bolton.

Clarke played 147 games for the Swans from 1926-1935, including in the 1933 premiership. He was named South Melbourne’s Best and Fairest in the premiership year and was later named on the interchange in the Sydney Swans Team of the Century.

Dunkley played for the Swans from 1992-2002. A dangerous defender, Dunkley played in the 1996 Grand Final and finished his career with 217 games to his credit.

Bolton played 170 games for Sydney after joining the club from the Brisbane Lions in 2003. A reliable defender, Bolton played in the 2005 premiership, was named All Australian in 2006 and 2009, and was co-captain of the Swans from 2008-2010.

Interestingly, the No. 6 was also worn by another well-known football identity, with Denis Pagan donning the guernsey in 23 games for the Swans from 1975-1976 before joining North Melbourne.
