Kurt Tippett is excited by the young talent coming through that is expected to make pressure for a spot in the senior side even more fierce this season.

With some senior Swans on the sidelines Sunday’s JLT Series match created a chance for the younger talent to push their claims for a spot in the side to take on Port Adelaide in Round 1.

Oliver Florent, Zak Jones, Darcy Cameron and Jack Maibaum were just a few of the names to impress during the loss to North Melbourne in Coffs Harbour.

Tippett said he was impressed by the performance of the young players during their first match in the red and white.

“It was a little bit disappointing not to get the win yesterday but it was very exciting to see a number of the younger players play their first game in a Swans guernsey,” Tippett said.

“It is great for them to have that experience and for our fans to get a look at the next group of players that are coming through.

“We have been playing against each other at training for a number of weeks now so it is nice to put what we have been working through in place against an opposition.

“We have areas we are trying to improve on from last season in order to be better again this year so it is great to be able to practice those things.”

The Swans are currently on a three day training camp in Coffs Harbour before a bye weekend and the second match in their JLT series campaign against Greater Western Sydney.
