The Sydney Swans will kick off their NEAFL season against the Brisbane Lions at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.

The Swans are set to field a strong side with 16 AFL listed players lining up in the match include Aliir Aliir, Callum Sinclair, Dean Towers and James Rose.

Coach Rhyce Shaw said his side was looking forward to getting back onto the field for their first competitive game in 2017.

“We have a had a pretty good pre-season so now it is going to be interesting to see how we perform," Shaw said.

"We have got some good senior players playing with us among a pretty young crop so I am looking forward to it and hopefully we can come out and play som good footy.

"Those senior guys are pushing for senior selection and they need to perform really well and that is the expectation we have of those guys at reserve level."
