Community AFL clubs from around the country can win a share of $10,000, thanks to the return of the Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program in 2017.

The Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program, which has run for the past two years, will once again give 10 football clubs from across Australia the chance to win $1000 each.

Ten lucky clubs put the money to good use last year by purchasing new training equipment and playing guernseys, upgrading club facilities and improving the overall environment for players.

Volkswagen General Manager Marketing Ben Wilks said Volkswagen is proud to give back to the community.

“Volkswagen is proud to partner with the Sydney Swans in providing assistance to community AFL clubs all over Australia,” Wilks said.

“We’re delighted to continue to support the fans that make AFL the special game it is.”

Clubs can apply for a Volkswagen Grassroots Grant by visiting sydneyswans.com.au/vwgrassrootsgrants and detailing how they would use the money.

Swans ruckman and Volkswagen Ambassador Kurt Tippett has encouraged all clubs to apply.

“The Volkswagen Grassroots Program is a great initiative that can really assist community football clubs,” Tippett said.

“Whether it’s purchasing some brand new Sherrins for training or fixing up the clubhouse, a Volkswagen Grassroots Grant can go a long way and make a huge difference for players.

“With the 2017 Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program now officially open, I encourage all clubs to head to the website and apply.”

Applications are open via sydneyswans.com.au/vwgrassrootsgrants until Monday June 3.
