Tall forward Sam Reid has continued his strong start to the 2017 season climbing up the AFL Player Ratings with another impressive performance against North Melbourne.

The 25-year old suffered hamstring, calf and Achilles problems last year and didn't play a game but returned this season in fine form.

He has not missed a game so far in 2017 and put in a starring performance against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Swan had 23.2 ranking points for his three-goal, 12-mark game, and his 14 kicks went at 86 per cent efficiency.

Sydney coach John Longmire sent Reid to defence at stages when North had momentum and the brother of Collingwood backman Ben finished with three intercept possessions.

After starting the season in position 413 Reid has risen to 317 on the back off his strong start to the season.

Dashing defender Zak Jones has been the Swans biggest riser up the rankings improving by 137 spots to currently sit at 220.

Meantime captain Josh Kenedy saw his ranking rise two positions up from 5th before Round 8 to currently sit as the 3rd highest ranked player in the game.

Kennedy was back to his brilliant best with 37 disposals and a goal against North Melbourne on Sunday afternoon.

An individual's Player Ratings score is a measurement from Champion Data, looking at a player's performance from their past 40 games over a rolling two-year period. Greater weighting is given to more recent games
