Defender Callum Mills knows the importance of his side not becoming complacent after winning their third game in a row on Saturday.

The Sydney Swans turned around a 0-6 start to the season by winning their last three matches to sit just two wins outside of the top eight.

Mills said it was important that the Swans continued to work hard in order to maintain the strong form produced in recent weeks.

“It’s about getting back to what we do well, the basics and hard work gets you out of those little holes,” Mills told RSN radio.

“We're not out of it. We've won three games. You can't be complacent with that.

“We understand what has got us back onto the winners’ list and that is hard work.”

Saturday’s win over the Saints has been labelled the most consistent performance of the season.

The 2016 AFL Rising Star said there is a confidence growing from within the group which should hold it in good stead ahead of Friday’s Round 10 clash against Hawthorn.

“The feeling is back amongst the group and we definitely have a belief that when we play that way we can match it with anyone,” he said.

“We proved that last week against St Kilda who are a team that have been in some really good form.”

Week-to-week remains the sole focus for the Swans’ players, however Mills believed anything can be achieved this season despite the team’s poor start.

“You can always improve and we are always looking to go to the next level,” he said.

“Your best is always determined by how good you can get so we are not putting a seal on it.”
