Seven players from the QBE Sydney Swans Academy have been selected in this year’s Under 15 NSW All Schools team, which was chosen after the State Carnival at Albury.

Academy general manager, Chris Smith, said he was proud of the boys who were picked, and highlighted the achievement of Braeden Campbell, who was awarded best player of the carnival.

Smith said the seven boys chosen showed such consistent form they gave the selectors no option.

However, Smith is disappointed a number of worthy players were left out of the All Schools team. He believes more Swans Academy boys deserved a spot, but has urged those who missed out to show resilience.

“Traditionally, players from the Swans Academy zone don’t fare too well at the selection table when it comes to the schools representative teams,’’ Smith said.

Smith said the best response for the players who didn't make the cut was to focus on finishing term three of the Swans Academy program on a positive note.

A number of Academy boys in many different age groups have had to deal with the disappointment of missing rep selection, but Smith said there was often a positive outcome in the longer term.

“It can help build resilience in young boys and men, and we’ve seen many times that our Academy players bounce back and become more determined and committed.

“It’s worth noting that last year only five Swans Academy boys were selected in the Under 15 NSW All Schools team, yet a year on, we have 16 players in this year’s Under 16 NSW Rams squad.

"Boys should take heart from that, and I believe the future is very bright for the current crop of Under 15 Swans Academy players,’’ Chris said.

The Swans Academy boys who will play for NSW at the National Schools Championships in Perth are – Sam Eynaud, Errol Gulden, Marco Rossman, Marc Sheather, Hamish Dunstan, Jonathan Moran and Braeden Campbell.

Campbell, from Sydney’s north shore, is a classy midfielder who is making a big impact on the field.
