Sydney Swans captain Josh Kennedy will miss Saturday afternoon’s clash against Gold Coast at the SCG with quad tightness.

Kennedy was given every chance to take on the Suns before the coaching staff opted to take a conservative approach with the captain.

Dan Robinson returns to the side for his first game since Round 1.

Coach John Longmire said it was dissapointing to lose Kennedy after he suffered tightness in his quad at training.

"We gave him every chance, he had a tight quad during the week and last night we expected him to play but he was a little bit tight this morning," Longmire said.

"We wanted to give him until the last minute but he didn't come up.

"He is too big a risk so he is out and Dan Robinson comes into the team."

Dan Hannebery has been named captain for the afternoon.
