Sydney Swans utility Dean Towers is one of three in the running to win a Mark of the Year nomination for Round 18 with his courageous grab from Saturday night's win against St Kilda.

If we thought Luke Parker's Wayne Rooney-like scissor kick was impressive, Towers' efforts to run back with the flight of that kick forward and take the grab was something else.

The 27-year-old is walking on air thanks to a strong patch of form and that came the fore in a literal sense as the No. 22 climbing high over teammate Dan Robinson and opponent St Kilda's Dylan Roberton to take the strong mark.

"Eyes only for the footy," Channel 7 commentator Matthew Richardson said while watching the replay during the broadcast.

The mark capped off another solid performance from Towers which included 19 disposals and a goal.

He's up against Carlton's Levi Casboult and Adelaide's Mitch McGovern for the Round 18 nomintation.

Swans fans can have a big say in who gets the nod. Head to the AFL's Mark and Goal of the Year hub to vote for Towers' grab, voting closes at 11.59pm on Thursday night.
