Two fresh faces have been included in this week’s AFL Team of the Week with Callum Sinclair and Lewis Melican both named in the Round 18 side.

The performance on Melican has already been rewarded with a Round 18 AFL Rising Star nomination.

The 20-year-old defender played a vital role in shutting down veteran St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt on Saturday night.

Melican finished the match with 15 disposals and three marks as well as keeping Riewoldt to just one goal and four marks for the game.

Melican was named centre half back in the AFL.com.au Team of the Week.

Sinclair also impressed in his return to the senior side as he booted five goals to go along with 19 disposals and 10 marks playing as a key forward.

The 200cm big man played the best match of his career playing deep forward and taking eight contested marks for the match.

Sinclair was named at full forward in the AFL.com.au Team of the Week.

See below the reasons given for the pair being selected in the AFL.com.au team of the week.

LEWIS MELICAN (Sydney): Nick Riewoldt is one of the most important players at St Kilda, so for the Swan to keep the champion to just 10 disposals and one goal was no mean feat.

CALLUM SINCLAIR (Sydney): It's unlikely many people saw this one coming. Recalled from the NEAFL to slot five goals. His aerial presence was formidable, with eight contested marks.
