Sydney Swans captain Josh Kennedy has implored his young playing group to grasp the opportunity that currently presents.

Speaking at the Guernsey Presentation and Hall of Fame Dinner on Monday night, Kennedy said he was excited about what his side could achieve in season 2018.

“As a young player or any player, you may be thinking that you are invincible, with a long road ahead, that opportunities missed will merely be followed by more,” Kennedy said.

“Let us take a lesson from those that have gone before us, this is not always the case.”

“Let’s not wait for time to present us with a laid-out plan, every day is an opportunity for us to be one step closer to our goal.”

After a poor start to last season the Swans managed to turn their season around to make finals before losing to Geelong in a Qualifying Final at the MCG.

It was a passionate Kennedy who encouraged his playing group to continue to strive to achieve to their full potential.

“In a system that is designed to make every team equal let us continue to stand out,” Kennedy said.

“In 2018 let’s make it happen, don’t waste the opportunities we have in front of us.

“If we can do that I am sure we will have a chance to look back together on the path we have forged and the history we have made.

“Don’t think that what can be done today can wait until tomorrow. Let’s go out there and make it happen!”
