Swans defender Jake Lloyd has polled eight votes in the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Champion Player of the Year award for playing a starring role in Sydney’s win over the West Coast Eagles last Friday.

The 24-year-old collected 28 disposals and eight marks and played a key role in the Swans’ strong ball movement out of defence.

Evergreen backman Heath Grundy earned three coaches’ votes after producing a brilliant game in his 250th match, while captain Josh Kennedy (28 touches, six clearances, one goal) earned three votes. 

Young midfielder Oliver Florent gathered a game-high 29 possessions to poll two votes, while forward Lance Franklin finished with 18 disposals and two goals to earn one vote.

Gun West Coast on-baller Elliot Yeo received a perfect 10 votes for an outstanding performance, and ruckman Nic Naitanui earned three.
