We’ve seen snaps and bananas from the pocket and soaring bombs from outside 50, and stunning goals on the run and even a bicycle kick that put the crowd in raptures.

As the Sydney Swans enjoy a Round 14 bye, we run an eye over the best goals kicked this season.

5 – Ben Ronke v Hawthorn, MCG, Round 8

Swans young gun Ben Ronke bagged a seven-goal haul as Sydney edged Hawthorn in an eight-point win. All seven majors made the highlights reel but the best of the lot was his sixth. The lively forward crumbed in congestion, shrugged off one Hawk, spun around and banged home a right-foot snap to level the scoreline at the 16-minute mark of the final term.

4 – Gary Rohan v St Kilda, Etihad Stadium, Round 12

Sydney speedster Gary Rohan swooped on the Sherrin on the brink of the centre square, beat a Saint with a fierce right-foot step, found his balance and threaded a goal on the run from 48 metres out. It was one of 19 Sydney goals of the game as the Swans motored away for a 71-point win. The goal outdid sensational efforts from Giant Josh Kelly and Docker Tom Sheridan to claim the Round 12 Goal of the Year nomination.

3 – Lance Franklin v Port Adelaide, Etihad Stadium, Round 2

Star Sydney forward Lance Franklin gathered the footy near the junction of the forward 50 arc and right-side boundary, danced away from congestion and slammed home a swirling left-foot snap from 49 metres out. The clutch goal reduced the deficit to nine points early in the final stanza.

2 – Lance Franklin v GWS, SCG, Round 3

Franklin received an Isaac Heeney handball from congestion, palmed off Giant Nick Haynes and launched a bomb from 65 metres out. A crowd of 34,000 watched on in anticipation as the Sherrin crashed in the goal square and bounced through to extend the Swans’ lead to 16 points late in the fourth quarter. It pipped outstanding efforts from Crow Eddie Betts and Tiger Jack Higgins to take out the Round 3 Goal of the Year nomination.

1 – Luke Parker v West Coast Eagles, Optus Stadium, Round 1

As the Swans got their season off to a winning start in a 29-point victory over the Eagles in Perth, midfielder Luke Parker lodged an early nomination for Goal of the Year that could take some beating. Sydney ruckman Callum Sinclair spilled a long kick sent flying inside 50 and Parker swooped, juggling the ball at the tip of the goal square and reeling off a bicycle kick that cannoned through the middle of the sticks. The remarkable solo effort stunned the crowd and commentators and outdid brilliant goals by Docker Cam McCarthy and Tiger Jack Riewoldt to win the Round 1 Goal of the Year nomination.
