The Sydney Swans treated Ireland’s national men’s rugby team to a tour of the SCG on Wednesday ahead of a clash with Australia this week.

Sydney development coach Tadhg Kennelly and third-year Swan Colin O’Riordan hail from Ireland and enjoyed showing the rugby stars around the home of the Club.

Australia will host Ireland in a June Series decider at Allianz Stadium on Saturday after the Wallabies collected a win in Brisbane and the Irish in Melbourne.

Ireland fullback Rob Kearney says the difference between Aussie rules and rugby isn’t as big as some may think.

“We watch a bit of Aussie rules back home,” Kearney told SwansTV.

“We have a keen interest in Gaelic football back home and there are a few Irishmen who have given Aussie rules a crack over here. There are similarities between rugby, Gaelic football and Aussie rules and there are a lot of Irishmen who would watch the games and pay some close attention to a lot of the skills.

“It’s brilliant to be here. We’ve got a great tour around the place and thanks for having us.”
