Sydney Swans captain Josh Kennedy has won a premiership, led the Swans to back-to-back finals campaigns and claimed three Bob Skilton Medals.

But busting the banner with his son Emilio for his 200th Swans game last season is among his most cherished moments in red and white – and it’s his bond with his little mate that has him in the running to claim an honourable award.

Kennedy is among the top 10 elite Australian athletes vying for the 2018 Sports Dad of the Year award set to be announced on Father’s Day on September 2.

The award is a tribute to the contribution Australia’s sporting elite make to their families both on and off the ground.

Kennedy has put himself among a host of highly worthy candidates in 2018, including Richmond captain Trent Cotchin and North Queensland Cowboys star Jonathan Thurston.

You can vote for Kennedy at sportsdads.com.au.

Voting will close on Tuesday, August 28.
