Coach John Longmire admitted at the start of 2013 he would be happy if Rohan was able to return from his broken leg and play any form of football during the year.

So he was overjoyed when the talented youngster made it through a month in the NEAFL and then had a triumphant return to AFL football against St Kilda in round 21.

Making five AFL appearances and kicking five goals, including two in the preliminary final defeat to Fremantle, Rohan will be aiming for a big pre-season heading into 2014.

Draft history: 2009 NAB AFL Draft 1st round selection (Sydney) No. 6 overall.

2014 Coaches Call

His 2013 season was terrific, because it was good to see him back. It was a solid mental and physical battle for him for a long time and there were doubts on whether he’d get back at all last year and even train, let alone play. I know there were some dark patches for him, so for him to work through that and get back, and first play some reserves games, and then push his way into the seniors a few weeks later, shows how much we rate him and how much we wanted him back.

His pre-season has been
really good. His off-season was pretty solid and he came back in reasonable shape. He did the majority of the sessions pre-Christmas and now has a good chunk of work in. He’s really set himself up for a decent year.

We hope in 2014 that he can get back to his best. What he’s showing on the training track this year is similar to the type of training he showed in the 2012 pre-season and he started that year really well, so we hope he stays out there and he stays on the park.
