Injury had a major impact on Jack in 2011, but last season he was fully fit and back to his brilliant best.

Playing every game, Jack averaged 24 possessions and kicked 27 goals, both career bests.

He kicked multiple goals in 10 games, one of which was the Grand Final, including a crucial one deep in the final term.

His father Garry, a rugby league international, fell short in two deciders, but his son can now call himself a premiership player.

He also moved past 100 career games and picked up an impressive 15 Brownlow Medal votes, almost doubling his career tally.

On March 8, it was announced that Kieren would co-captain the Sydney Swans, alongside Jarrad McVeigh, for the 2013 season.

Draft history: 2007 rookie elevation (Sydney).

2013 Coaches Call

2012 was an excellent year for Kieren. He was really consistent and the decisions he made in terms of when to attack, when to defend, when to play inside and when to play outside were really good. He was another one who had a great finals series.

Pre-season has been a little bit up and down. He missed a couple of sessions but he’s got back into training. Kieren is such a hard worker that he’ll catch up on everything he could have missed and he’ll be ready to go for round 1.

We hope in 2013 that he will continue his growth in being a leader and helping the other players, but also getting his balance right between inside and outside and attack and defence. He is such an important player for us and we expect him to keep improving to become a better player.
