Appearing in all 22 home-and-away games, Grundy formed a key part of the AFL’s best defensive unit last season. 

But, having missed the 2011 finals series with glandular fever, a suspension in round 23 then ruled him out of last season’s qualifying final victory over Adelaide. 

It was only a blip, however, with the key defender returning for the final two games, keeping Jarryd Roughead to just three behinds in the Grand Final. 

He took 117 marks for the year, the second most for the Swans, behind All-Australian Ted Richards.

2013 Coaches Call

2012 was really good. He took the best tall forwards every week and loved the challenge.

Pre-season has been outstanding and he certainly shows no signs of slowing down.

We hope in 2013 we expect him to take on the opposition’s best every week.
