Injuries interrupted Lockyer’s first year on the Swans’ list, starting with a knee problem in the pre-season. 

The West Australian returned to the NEAFL in the early part of the year, but back-to-back hamstring injuries led to more time on the sidelines. 

He made it back into the NEAFL for the final month of the season and the tall defender will be hoping to stay healthy and push for senior selection in 2013.

2013 Coaches Call

2012 was frustrating for Jordan. He showed good signs very early and got some NAB Cup games but then had a few injuries that interrupted that first part. The rest of 2012 was then about making sure he was right for 2013, but we could see from the way he was training and the quality of person he is that he has the right qualities to be an AFL footballer.

Pre-season has been good. He’s completed a full pre-season, which is the aim for your 1-3 players and he’s pretty much achieved that so far.

We hope in 2013 that he can get some continuity with his footy, but at the same time we don’t want to rush him because we’re really confident that he’s going to be a long-term player for the club.
