Struck down by injuries in his first season on Sydney’s list in 2012, Lockyer played regular football for the Swans’ NEAFL team throughout 2013.
Admitting he was down on form to start the year, he hit his straps late in the season and became a dependable member of the backline in the team’s rise to the Grand Final.
Lockyer is aiming to improve his fitness and push for AFL selection this year.
Draft history: 2011 NAB AFL Draft 2nd round selection (Sydney) No. 43 overall.
His 2013 season was a year where we saw some improvement from Jordan. Following on from his first full pre-season, he was able to play nearly every game and he played down back and was fairly consistent.
His pre-season has been really good. He came back in terrific shape, so he clearly had done some of the work in the off-season. He received a lot of praise after his 3km time trial from John Longmire afterwards because his time was a huge improvement, so his pre-season has been pretty impressive.
We hope in 2014 that he can continue to make an impact like he has this pre-season so he can push for senior selection.
