Finally overcame injury troubles to play 22 of a possible 24 games.

His improved fitness allowed him to emerge as a tagging option and he was a key in the Swans’ defensive set-up.

His defensive pressure enabled him to pop up in front of goal at times, kicking 11 for the season, including a career-high four against the Bulldogs in round 18.

Finished the year as the club’s fifth-highest tackler, averaging more than five a game, and coach John Longmire will be looking for even more from the youngster in 2012.

Coaches' call:

2011 was … his best year of senior footy, and he bounced back from a foot problem that had really hampered him in 2010. He didn’t have much preseason but it was a great effort from Rob Spurrs and the fitness team to get him through, though he did get a bit tired at the end of the year.

Preseason has been … one of the best he’s had. He hasn’t missed a session and should have the run to allow him to play in the midfield all year.

We hope in 2012 … that he will continue to play his role for the team, whether that be times when he is given a certain match-up or when he’s given a lock down role. His challenge is to make sure he is still  having that impact late in the season.
