Having established himself as a key defender in 2010, Grundy improved even further in 2011, regularly taking on and beating some of the best forwards in the AFL.

Was struck down by glandular fever late in the season, forcing him to miss the round 24 clash against the Brisbane Lions and the club’s two finals.

He still finished second to only Adam Goodes in marks with 110 and is perfectly placed for a long career in the Swans backline.

Coaches' call:

2011 was… he held down centre-half-back all year and he had a really solid year playing on the opposition’s best key forward.

His pre-season has been… really strong which contributed to Heath being probably our best player in our first pre-season match.

In 2012 we want to see… Heath continue his good form.
