Moore was unable to hold down a regular place in the senior side in 2011. But he showed his commitment to the club by being a mentor for the reserves side en route to a second Mulrooney Medal for best and fairest player in the NEAFL Eastern Conference (tied with Dan Currie). The small forward managed three senior games for the year, taking his career tally to 68. Coaches' call:
2011 was… a pretty tough year for Bulldog. He only played the three games, he had a few ankle issues which held him back a little bit. He was outstanding in the way he carried himself in a difficult year which is always a sign of a leader and he is still in the leadership group. It was certainly admirable the way he went about his footy while things weren’t going his way.
His pre-season has been… positive where he’s certainly made some improvements in his running. He’s not quite running PB’s but he’s shaved a fair bit of time certainly off his 3km time trial and he ran pretty much solely before Christmas and then he got back into skills work after Christmas. He’s certainly identified running as his major area for improvement.Â
In 2012 we want to see… that he makes the most of any opportunity that he gets and if he gets his chance that he does everything right. He’s still a really good ball user and knows the setups and he’s a fantastic leader around the club so if he gets a chance I hope he holds onto it. Brownlow Medal: career votes 5. Draft history: 2004 NAB AFL Draft 2nd round selection (Sydney) No. 31 overall.
