The Swans were hoping Gordon would continue his development and begin pushing for senior selection in 2011 and that is exactly what he did. The former NSW scholarship holder made his AFL debut against the Western Bulldogs in round seven and played two games filling in for injured midfielder Kieren Jack. He played out the season well in the NEAFL and was rewarded with elevation from the rookie list at the end of the year. He will be expected to take further steps forward in 2012 as he tries to hold down a place in the senior team.
