After being released by Adelaide at the end of 2007, Mattner played every game for the Swans in 2008 and again in 2009, providing plenty of dash from defence. His ability to attack the ball, take a good mark and run the lines is critical to Sydney. He was third in the best and fairest in his debut season in red and white and was eighth last year.

Player honours: 3rd best and fairest 2008; Adelaide pre-season premiership side 2003.
