Joins the Swans from Adelaide, where he played 14 games over the past two seasons, having been drafted in 2007.

Grew up in NSW as a Swans supporter and is relishing the chance to return home. Renowned for his kicking skills off half-back, Armstrong could be a nice fit for the Swans alongside players such as Rhyce Shaw, Martin Mattner and Alex Johnson.

With Tadhg Kennelly retiring, he should have an opportunity to find a place in the Swans’ backline.

Coaches' call:

We recruited him because… we were looking for some good ball users from our back half and he certainly offers that. We also lost Tadhg Kennelly so hopefully Tony can play a similar role to what Tadhg did.

His pre-season has been… unfortunately plagued by injury. He’s only just back in training at the end of February and will have a delayed start to 2012.

In 2012 we want to see… Tony as a member of our back six.
