As the club looks ahead to inclusion in the 2022/23 AFLW competition, the Sydney Swans are inviting athletes to be involved in the Women's Open Athlete trials.

The trials, to be held on March 19 at Tramway Oval, Moore Park, are a chance for the Swans coaching team to identify AFL talent that may not have been picked up through the Academy system. Cross code athletes (no AFL experience required) who think they have what it takes to succeed at in the AFLW are welcome to nominate.

Current QBE Sydney Swans Academy and Giants Academy players who have been part of the women's Summer Series are not required to trial.

The trial will be split into three key areas:

  • Benchmark (all athletes)
  • Basic skill proficiencies (all athletes, cross coders to be coached in required skill)
  • Match play (2-3 x 10min, athletes who have previously played competition level AFL only)

Interested athletes must nominate via the link here by March 13 and will be contacted with further details if accepted to take part in the trial.
