Coach John Longmire has flagged three potential inclusions to replace the injured Kieren Jack for Saturday’s clash against Carlton at the MCG.

Nic Newman, Brandon Jack and James Rose have all been put in the mix after impressive performances in last weekend’s NEAFL win over the Giants.

Longmire said pre-training on Thursday he expected all to come into calculation to face the Blues this weekend.

“Brandon Jack’s performances have been really solid and James Rose played well in the reserves last week,” he said.

“There are a few in contention for that role and we will see how training goes today before we make that call.

“We feel as though we have a few players that can add to that midfield mix which is really important to do.”

Defender Aliir Aliir looks set for another week at NEAFL level as he continues to find the form required for a senior recall.

“At this stage we don’t expect him to be playing,” Longmire said.

“His performance was ok last week but we thought that Lewis Melican’s performance in his first game was really positive.

“We’ve had six new players this year and most of them have come in to show bits and pieces.

“We though Lewis’ performance last week was really strong and he was probably one of our better players so we expect him to play again this week and to play really well.”

The final team for Round 6 will be announced at 6.25pm tonight on sydneyswans.com.au.
