Women of the AFL will #Giveafrock for a good cause after this year’s Brownlow Medal celebration and other AFL-related events.

Female players, staff, wives and girlfriends are banding together to raise money for Melbourne’s Women’s House, run by the Sacred Heart Mission, which provides a welcoming and safe environment for women.

Women of the Sydney Swans, including Lance Franklin’s wife Jesinta, have already donated a gown to the cause.

The gowns will be auctioned for the Sacred Heart Mission in November.

AFL General Manager, Inclusion and Social Policy, Tanya Hosch says the AFL is supporting this campaign as they are committed to promoting respectful relationships and raising awareness of violence against women and children in Australia.

“This year, the AFL is proud to support the ‘Give a Frock’ campaign at the Brownlow Medal, which will raise much needed funds for Sacred Heart Mission to provide ongoing support, a meal, a shower and a place to rest at the Women’s House,” Hosch said.

“Many great women in footy are promoting this initiative, recognising the importance of the opportunity to support women and children in need”.

Donated gowns will be showcased at Sacred Heart Mission’s op shop, 110 Commercial Rd Prahran before being auctioned at the Prahran Town Hall on November 2.
