Six Sydney Swans AFLW players have been rewarded for standout individual campaigns in our inaugural season with nominations for the 2022 AFLW MVP awards.

Cynthia Hamilton, Montana Ham, and Sofia Hurley have been shortlisted for the MVP award, while Hurley and Hamilton have also been nominated as the 'Best First-Year Player' and 'Most Courageous' respectively.

Co-captains Maddy Collier, Brooke Lochland, and Lauren Szigeti have also earned nominations for the 'Best Captain' category, after the trio lead a youthful and inexperienced playing squad in a historic first year for the Swans AFLW team.

Hamilton's two nominations cap a sterling season for the 18-year-old after she was crowned as the club's inaugural Sydney Swans AFLW Club Champion. She averaged 2.7 clearances, 3.2 tackles and 10.9 disposals, and quickly made a name for herself with her fearless presence around the contest.

Meanwhile, Ham (71 votes) and Hurley (62) have also been nominated after finishing second and third in the club's Best and Fairest Award, while they both received Rising Star nominations in Round 4 and Round 9 respectively.

Sydney Swans young star Sofia Hurley has been named the Round 9 Rising Star.

Despite missing three games due to injury early in the season, Ham made an instant impact in her first season in the red and white, averaging 14 disposals and five tackles per game.

Voting for the AFLW MVP, Most Courageous, Best First-Year Player and Best Captain awards is a two-stage process, with players nominating their teammates in stage one before selecting from a competition-wide field in stage two.

The AFL Players’ Association will recognise the achievements of the award winners with a special in person event on Wednesday November 23.
