Veteran Swans midfielder Kieren Jack is expected to put his hand up to face West Coast in Friday night’s blockbuster at the SCG.

Jack did not play in the 71-point win over St Kilda in the Pride Game, as his training load was managed to prepare him for the second half of the season.

Head of Football Tom Harley said the 30-year-old has trained well and put himself in line for selection.

“Kieren was managed last week after he copped a knock to the hip pointer, it wasn’t significant enough to rule him out with injury,” Harley told the HCF injury update.

“We just wanted to manage his load, so that is why he didn’t play against the Saints.

“He trained strongly today and we would expect him to play on Friday night.”

Jordan Dawson made a positive return from injury for the NEAFL side on the weekend and is expected to increase his game time against the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Lewis Melican (hamstring) and Sam Reid (quad) continue their recovery and are nearing a return.

“Both Lewis and Sam are tracking well, they will ramp up their training in terms of sprint running and training with the main group in the next week,” Harley said.

“We have the bye after the West Coast game and the view would be that they are considered for availability the first week after the bye.

“With both players as important as they are, we will make a call closer to the date on their return.”
