The Sydney Swans have welcomed back hard-running defender Zak Jones for a clash with GWS in Sydney Derby XV at Spotless Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Midfielder Dan Robinson has also been named to face GWS, while defenders Alex Johnson (knee) and Nick Smith (hamstring) are the two omissions.

Jones will return from a two-game suspension to play his first match since Sydney’s loss to Essendon in Round 19.

Coach John Longmire said the 23-year-old would give the Swans a big boost.

“It’s good to have him back in the team,” Longmire told QBE Team Selection.

“He gives us some important run and carry either through the midfield or down back.”

Robinson has played seven NEAFL matches and six AFL games this season.

The 24-year-old collected 46 possessions and a goal as Sydney overcame the Canberra Demons in the NEAFL last Saturday.

Longmire said he deserved his chance.

“He’s been in and out a little bit this year,” Longmire said.

“It’s good to get him back. He hasn’t done a lot wrong. He can play a number of different roles for us. He can play through the midfield and give us some real depth through that area of the ground.”
