The Sydney Swans have finalised a trade with St Kilda that will see Dan Hannebery return home to Melbourne.

As part of the trade, Sydney will receive St Kilda’s 2019 second-round pick and pick 39 in this year’s draft in exchange for Sydney’s pick 28 in 2018 and Hannebery.

Hannebery, a three-time All-Australian, 2012 premiership player, 2015 AFLCA Player of the Year, 2010 Rising Star winner and Swans Life Member, played 208 games for Sydney across 10 seasons.

Sydney Swans Head of Football Tom Harley paid tribute to Hannebery.

“Dan has been a great servant of our club for the past decade and when the idea for a trade was first raised we were willing to look at it,” Harley said.

“We’ve had very open and transparent conversations with St Kilda throughout and we’re glad to have finalised this trade.

“On behalf of everyone at the Sydney Swans, we’d like to thank Dan for the impact he had in red and white and wish him all the best for the future and his move home.”

The Swans have now completed four trades during the AFL trade period which has seen Gary Rohan and Dan Hannebery depart in return for Ryan Clarke, a future second-round pick and an extra 392 draft value index points to be used in this year’s AFL Draft.
