Sydney Swans coach John Longmire addressed the media at the SCG on Monday afternoon.

Sydney is set to face Richmond at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

Here are some key quotes from the press conference.

Fitness of Isaac Heeney, Callum Sinclair

“I think they’ll be okay. Isaac hurt his hip when he got tackled over the side there, but he’s pulled okay and we expect him to be fine. And Callum was just crook throughout the game, but he should also be okay.”

Reviewing the loss to Melbourne

“It’s probably a snapshot so far of this year for us. We’ve been inconsistent in all areas of our game and we just haven’t been able to string together a four-quarter performance. We came out on the weekend and were really good in the first quarter, but we then stopped and let them kick some easy goals against us. We’ve been really poor at scores against from stoppages. It’s been a consistent theme and it’s an all-over team structure we need to get right.”

Tom McCartin in defence

“We thought playing him in defence against Carlton and against Melbourne was the best-case scenario. We think he’s going to be reasonably adaptable throughout his career – whether that’s forward or back. We’re mindful that we’d be able to give him a good run in a position on the ground. We’re working through positions on the ground with our players and making sure we get the right mix in the right parts of the ground.”

Daniel Menzel’s progress from a groin setback

“He’s not far away now. We’ll see how he goes this week at training. He might be another week or two away. With Will Hayward out, who’s been an important goal-kicker, Dan could come in to the side in the coming weeks and add another forward threat for us.”

Kieren Jack’s 250th game

“He was a young bloke when he first turned up and there were a lot of comments about him being too small and not good enough, and he came through on our rookie list. But he’s played 250 games and been a co-captain of this footy club. So it’s been an incredible story and one that shows he’s been prepared to work really hard at his game for a long time. He’s been a fantastic contributor, we think he’s still got a little bit left in the tank, he did a couple of good things for us last week and it would be good to see him keep building on that.”
