The Sydney Swans have named debutant James Rowbottom among two changes to face Richmond at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

Rowbottom and Ryan Clarke come into the side to replace Justin McInerney and Nick Blakey who have both been omitted.

Rowbottom was taken with the Swans second-round selection in the 2018 National Draft and is a product of the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup.

Coach John Longmire said he was excited to give the hard-at-it midfielder an opportunity at AFL level.

"James gets his first opportunity for the football club after being drafted last year and has had a great pre-season," Longmire said.

"He has been terrific in our reserves so far this year either playing in the midfield or up forward competing really hard and has been able to finish off with some goals as well.

"It is great to be able to get him in the team."

Ryan Clarke returns for his third game for the club after returning from a two week stint in the NEAFL side where he has shown strong form.

"His last couple of weeks has been really consistent, so he comes back into the team."

"We know he had a really good pre-season so they are two guys that come back into the side for us and will have roles to play for us."
