Young Sydney Swans forward Tom McCartin addressed the media ahead of training at Lakeside Oval on Thursday morning.

Sydney is set to face North Melbourne at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena on Saturday night.

Here are some key quotes from the press conference.

Energy among the team

“The win over the Bombers has been massive for us. We were 1-6 before that game so it was really huge to get the win, our confidence is up and we’ll take that into this weekend.”

Tassie trip

“A lot of the more boys have never been to Tassie. I’ve personally been to Tassie a few times and I love it so I’m looking forward to getting down there. We’ll have a crack and hopefully we can come away with the win.”

Facing the Roos

“We have to respect North Melbourne. They’re a great side and we just need to bring our biggest strength, which is contested footy. We won that on the weekend and it just goes to show there’s no secret to winning games; we just need to bring our brand of footy and come away with the win.”

Young forward line

“It’s disappointing that ‘Buddy’ won’t be playing again this week. He’s obviously a massive influence on the team and we can’t wait to get him back. Looking at last week we had a very young forward line, but we all contributed pretty evenly and did our jobs. That probably gives us a bit of confidence for the time being while ‘Buddy’ and Menzel aren’t in it.”
