Full-blooded 89-year-old Sydney Swans supporter Patricia Rice craved to see her beloved team in the flesh one more time and got the chance in Round 7’s clash with the Brisbane Lions.

Courtesy of four free tickets supplied by the Swans, the Gold Coast resident watched on from the VIP area at the Gabba alongside friends and family.

Rice was also surprised with a Sydney guernsey signed by the entire squad, a Swans scarf and a club membership.

Although the Swans fell to the Lions in a 22-point loss, Rice said the evening made for an unforgettable time.

“The whole experience was something I will treasure forever,” Rice said.

“It was better than I ever imagined. I wasn’t able to sleep the night before; I was like a kid in a candy shop.”
