Colin O’Riordan and Jackson Thurlow have been cleared of serious damage and are expected to be available for selection to take on Hawthorn at the SCG on Friday night.

The pair both finished last round’s win over West Coast on the interchange bench after suffering head knocks during the match.

Head of Football Charlie Gardiner said he expected both players to be able to take their spot in the side to take on Hawthorn.

“Colin and Jackson picked up head knocks last week and couldn’t take part in the rest of the game,” Gardiner said.

“They pulled up really well following the game and have been cleared of any ongoing symptoms so I expect that they will be fit and available to play.”

Zak Jones, Will Hayward, Josh Kennedy and Kieren Jack all trained with the team on Tuesday night and will be assessed in the coming days.

“Will, Josh, Zak and Kieren all look likely to be available for selection, we have our main training session this evening,” Gardiner said on Tuesday.

“Subject to them getting through training and pulling up well I expect them to be in contention for selection.”

Veteran Jarrad McVeigh will miss the next couple of weeks as he recovers from an injury he sustained against the Eagles.

“Jarrad unfortunately picked up a hamstring against West Coast and it doesn’t look like a major hamstring,” Gardiner said.

“It will set him back two or three weeks.”
