A mammoth total of 39,660 supporters filled the SCG stands when the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn last met at the Harbour City venue in the final round of season 2018.

And Sydney ruckman Callum Sinclair, who’s set to run out for his 100th AFL match, has called for the Swans faithful to again pour through the gates on Friday night.

“It's a great opportunity for the players to play Friday night footy. Big crowds are really important to us, and especially up here in NSW, we really value all the support we can get,” Sinclair said.

“We urge everyone to come along. It's always a great contest against Hawthorn Football Club. We've had a really competitive history with them in the past, so I really urge everyone to get along and provide some strong support for us.”

The SCG has drawn an average crowd of more than 39,000 for the last three Swans-Hawks games at the Moore Park venue.

Last year’s 39,660-strong attendance was preceded by 36,221 in Round 10, 2017, and 42,314 in Round 17, 2016.

Rising Sydney midfielder Jordan Dawson heaped praise on the club’s supporters after the Swans surged to a 45-point victory over the West Coast Eagles in their final match before the bye.

A season-high crowd of 36,640 packed the SCG to see the Swans carve out a commanding victory over the reigning premier, and Dawson said the full-blooded support was “awesome”.

Those in the crowd on Friday night will witness two teams hell-bent on gaining momentum go toe to toe.

Sydney is determined to build on a highly competitive five-game stretch, while Hawthorn will be on the hunt for a return to the winners’ circle.

Sinclair is full of energy ahead of Friday’s clash.

“It's really exciting looking ahead to Friday. We believe that over the last four or five weeks we've played a really consistent brand of football,” Sinclair said.

“Both teams are really hungry to build some momentum over the second half of the season, so Friday's game is going to be a really exciting challenge for us.”
