Kyan Upsall makes the five-and-a-half-hour trip from the Mid North Coast of NSW to the Harbour City for every one of his QBE Sydney Swans Academy training sessions.

But the star under-14 ruckman won’t ever let it stop him from chasing his AFL dream.

Upsall lives in Bellingen, a 30-minute drive south of Coffs Harbour, and heads to Sydney for the Academy Cup every three weeks.

The 185-centimetre giant hopes the road to Sydney is clearing the road to the bright lights of the AFL.

“I dream to play in the AFL one day. I just want to train my hardest and do as much as I can,” Upsall told SwansTV.

“I joined the Academy in the under-12s and we had to trial in marking, kicking, handballing, time trials – everything.

“I reckon my game has improved a lot since joining the Academy, and I’ll keep working really, really hard in the hope of making it to the AFL.”
