The Sydney Swans are set to again join forces with charity partner the Jodi Lee Foundation at Friday night’s clash with Hawthorn at the SCG.

The Jodi Lee Foundation’s mission is to empower people to take active steps to prevent bowel cancer and live healthy lives – and for good reason.

Bowel cancer is Australia’s second-most common cause of cancer-related death, with more than 17,000 people diagnosed each year.

However, up to 90 per cent of cases of bowel cancer can be treated successfully if detected early, so the Jodi Lee Foundation encourages everyone to Take the time. Take the test. It might just save your life.

Sydney coach John Longmire has an important message for all.

“It is really important that people take the tests but also have the conversation around the family table,” Longmire said.

“Discuss it, be open about it and when you turn 50 take the test. It is very easy to be treated if you get it nice and early enough.”

The Swans will welcome a number of guests from the Jodi Lee Foundation to Friday night's game against Hawthorn, including Foundation Patron and recent recipient of a Companion of the Order of Australia Ita Buttrose AC OBE, Founder and Chairman Nick Lee and CEO Kathryn Quintel.

Lee and Foundation ambassador Hugo Toovey visited the club last week to run the Foundation’s Workplace Prevention Program with Swans staff.

“The impact of the partnership with the Swans and the Jodi Lee Foundation over a number of years is far-reaching,” Lee said.

“From awareness matches, education sessions, player and coach involvement, this partnership is saving lives.”
