Director retirement – Rob Pascoe

After 15 years of service as a Director on the Board of the Sydney Swans, Rob Pascoe has announced his intention to retire at the upcoming AGM.

With a record of more than 300 games including two premierships from five Grand Final appearances, Rob has been involved with the club over such an important and successful period in its history.

On behalf of the Board, our members and more than one million supporters, I wish to thank Rob for making available to our club his passion, commitment and expertise over such a long period of time. It is people like Rob who make our club so great. He has played a key role in driving the continued growth and consistent success of the club, while always maintaining our present and future only have meaning if our history, dating as far back as 1867 and the important adopting of the South Melbourne name in 1874, is remembered, honoured and celebrated. Rob has been the embodiment of the spirit behind our Grand Final banner of 2005 statement: “Two Cities, One Team, Together Living the Dream”.

Rob will also retire from the following four sub-committees: Audit and Risk (of which he was Chair), Remuneration, Membership and Fan Engagement and Culture and Heritage.

We wish Rob and his family all the best and look forward to seeing them regularly into the future.

As a consequence of Rob’s retirement, we now call for nominations from eligible members who wish to stand for election.

The process involves eligible ordinary or Life Members advising they wish to stand for election accompanied by nominations from two eligible members. Nominations must be received before December 16, 2019. The formal process for nomination and election is outlined on the formal Member Election Notice which accompanies this letter.

An important consideration for the Board is the balance of skills, experience and personal networks that any individual Director will bring to the Board as a whole. I believe a significant element of success of our club has been the stability and sense of common purpose and unity the board has exhibited over many years. It is also important the Board has the benefit of appropriate diversity of gender, background and life experience. That said, it is a matter for members to elect a person who embodies the qualities that resonate with them and can also be additive and provide a point of difference to the Board.

If any member wishes to enquire regarding the election process and expectations of a Director I would be happy to speak with them. I can be contacted via email at PridhamA@sydneyswans.com.au.

For and on behalf of the Board of Directors.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Pridham AO
