Six QBE Sydney Swans Academy players have been selected for the Allies team for the U19 National Championships to be held in Melbourne between April 8th-15th.

Jess Doyle, Ruby Sargent-Wilson, Maddy Henrie, Ella Heads, Isadora McLeay and April Devine will all put on the Allies colours alongside former Premiership player and QBE Sydney Swans Academy Coach Jared Crouch who has been appointed coach of the side .

The Allies side is made up of players from NSW, ACT, Tasmania and NT and Crouch said he was incredibly proud to have several of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy players selected for representative duties.

“I have been proud of all the girls who have come into our program this year and they have all represented our club brilliantly over that time,” Crouch said.

“I am very excited that our group has been rewarded with two forwards, two midfielders and two from defence making the Allies side. It's a great achievement for a program just in its first term.”

Crouch believes the QBE Swans Academy contingent will bring plenty of energy to the Allies side alongside a hard and competitive edge.

“We have two relentless defenders in Ella and Isadora, April in the ruck getting the ball down to Ruby, with Jess and Maddie to finish off all the hard work up forward,” Crouch said.

Crouch has been working in development of the next generation of talent for the past 10 years and will bring plenty of experience to the Allies side.

“I just hope to share my knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of this game with a group of footballers,” Crouch said.

“Like me when I was young, they all have a desire to play the game at the highest level.”
