AFLW Head Coach Scott Gowans addresses his squad in their first training session on Monday evening.

The inaugural Sydney Swans AFLW team came together for the first time on Monday evening as their pre-season began ahead of the AFLW season which will kick off at the end of August.

It was an historic occasion for the club, welcoming the women's team for their first official day and players soon made themselves at home at Sydney Swans headquarters.

Prior to the first session on Tramway Oval, players had their first team meeting and official welcome to the club. After a Welcome to Country by the club's Indigenous / Player Development Manager Jarred Hodges they were addressed by Head AFLW Coach Scott Gowans, Executive GM of AFLW- Kate Mahony, Sydney Swans CEO - Tom Harley and Executive GM of the men's program- Charlie Gardiner alongside other members of the AFLW staff.

On the track, A 2km time trial was the first item on the agenda with former national 400m hurdler Montana Beruldsen showing her athletic ability to take out first place in the trial. Behind her was former Western Bulldogs player Brooke Lochland and former GIANT Lisa Steane placed third.

The squad then took part in some basic skill drills which allowed them to get their eye in for the first pre-season session and get to know each other as they begin their journey as the first Sydney Swans AFLW team.
