Forty years ago, our club embarked on the most incredible journey. From South Melbourne and the Lake Oval, the Swans flew north to create a new home for themselves and the entire sport. They landed on the SCG, and history was made in Round One, 1982.

The weekend we will celebrate 40 years in the Harbour City with a host of activities at the SCG to mark the occasion including photo opportunities with our 2005 and 2012 premiership cups, retro player cards, our inaugural AFLW team introduced to the crowd and a lap of honour around the hallowed turf of the SCG by some of our past players.

Ahead of this weekend, we encourage our members and fans to catch up on some of the club's history by revisiting The Bloods, presented by QBE.

In the illuminating six-part docuseries, produced by The Horde, Swans fans can hear from key players in the Club’s history, who talk candidly about the big moments that shaped the Sydney Swans of today.

The Bloods features key interviews and recollections with an all-star Swans cast including Rick Quade, Barry Round, Dennis Carroll, Tony Morwood, Warwick Capper, Paul Kelly and Peter Weinert along with former AFL Chairman Ross Oakley, senior journalist Tim Lane and many more.

Starting in the dark days of the late 1980s, The Bloods charts the Swans rise from struggling VFL team with little choice but to relocate to Sydney, to the drought-breaking 2005 AFL Premiership and beyond.

Along the journey, the integral role QBE has played in the Club’s history is highlighted. Listen to the podcast below.
