Sydney Swans ruck Ally Morphett has put pen to paper, inking a four-year deal to remain in the red and white until at least the end of 2027.

The 19-year-old emerged as one of the league’s best rucks in 2023, dominating from Round 1 where she earned her first Rising Star nomination in the Swans inaugural victory over the Giants.

Morphett was also named in the 2023 All-Australian squad for the first time, accompanied by teammates Laura Gardiner and co-captain Chloe Molloy.

Morphett was tasked by coach Scott Gowans to improve her fitness ahead of the 2023 season, and she responded, going on to average 17.9 disposals and 29.3 hit-outs per game.

Injury cut Morphett’s season short after suffering a wrist fracture against Hawthorn in Round 7, but she played a pivotal support role to the Swans AFLW team during their inaugural Finals campaign.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – AFLW Kate Mahony, said re-signing Morphett was another victory for the red and white this season.

“It has been fantastic to watch Ally enjoy a breakout season in the red and white,” said Mahony.

“Ally worked incredibly hard to improve her fitness and become one of the premier rucks in the competition. She proved she has the willingness and dedication to take her game to another level.”

“We can’t wait to see what she can deliver on the field in the 2024 season.”

Morphett revealed she is thrilled to be remaining in the red and white long term.

“I am so excited to have committed my future to the Swans,” said Morphett.

“This club is where I can take my footy to another level. I’ve seen what I can do in two years and can’t wait for what’s to come. I can’t wait to work with my team mates to keep building and striving for success.”

“People talk about the ‘Bloods culture,’ it really is something special. From the simple things like eating together in the dining room, to the men’s team showing up at our games to support us, it all matters. It’s like being part of a family, we all work together under the one roof, we all strive for success together, we are one club.”

Morphett played junior footy with East Wagga–Kooringal and community footy with Belconnen Magpies in the AFL Canberra league.
