Angus Sheldrick has been voted as the player to watch in 2024 after his Sydney Swans teammates declared the inside midfielder as the one to flourish in the new AFL season.

Sheldrick has enjoyed a strong pre-season to date, significantly improving his aerobic capacity while his customary hard work inside the contest was evident in the club's practice match against GWS.

Since he was drafted at pick no.18 of the 2021 National Draft, Sheldrick has played nine games for Sydney, including a memorable debut in Round 1 of the 2022 campaign.

He also managed five consecutive games midway through last year before injury cruelly ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Those five games coincided with a career-best performance against the West Coast Eagles in Round 15, where he recorded 29 disposals, one goal, and four tackles.

His teammates lauded his work-ethic and strong desire to improve.

"We saw how he finished the year last year before he got hurt, and then the way he has come back is a credit to him - he's tearing up the track," Logan McDonald said.

McDonald's comments were echoed by Jake Lloyd, James Rowbottom, and Will Hayward.

"He came off a few injuries last year...but he's had a great pre-season and I'm expecting a big year from Gussy", Lloyd said.

The season kicks off on Opening Night, Thursday March 7 when we take on Melbourne at the SCG. Tickets are limited. Secure your seat with a membership today.
