The Sydney Swans VFL side has fallen to Carlton by 30 points in wet conditions at the SCG on Friday evening.
Callum Mills impressed in his first game of 2025, playing just over a half of footy to record 19 disposals, six marks, and one goal, while Taylor Adams also starred with 29 possessions of his own and seven marks.
It was a high scoring affair in the opening term, with Max Geddes opening the scoring in the seventh minute, courtesy of a Jack Buller inside 50 and a series of clean hands down the boundary.
Neither team were able to break the game open for the following period, although Buller and Jack Kluske got their names on the scoresheet, before a flurry of goals from Carlton ensured they took three-point lead at the break.
Mills made his presence felt early with some slick touches in the opening stages, before finishing the first quarter 12 disposals and five marks.
The Swans burst out of the blocks with back to back goals to start the second quarter including a goal from outside 50 from Mills, before Carlton kicked away with four consecutive goals.
A second major to Tiddemann reduced the deficit, although Carlton had a 16-point advantage at the main break.
The Swans were unable to withstand a mountain of pressure from Carlton in the latter stages of the third quarter, as a lone Matt Lloyd goal the only damage done and Carlton had a 28-point lead heading into the final term.
Final quarter goals to Cooper McDonald and Jordan Endemann were not enough to close Carlton's lead, with the Blues running out 30-point winners.
Lachie Hunter topped the disposal count for the red and white with 33, followed by Adams 29 and Ben Paton 28.
Tidemann kicked two majors to go with his 15 disposals and seven marks, while Will Green (21 hit outs) was prominent in the ruck.
Next up, the Swans will travel to Melbourne for a Round 9 clash with Coburg at Barry Plant Park on Saturday May, 24 at 1.05pm.
